The Meowment is a vibrant community where singlehood, empowerment, creativity, film, and a love for cats intertwine to celebrate the art of living authentically.

At the heart of the Meowment is Alone Girl, my coming-of-middle-age story wrapped in an (un)romantic comedy that redefines happiness beyond societal expectations. This film draws from my own experiences as a happily single woman in her 50s, showcasing that being single is not just a status but a joyful choice.

What began as a filmmaker’s simple desire to tell an authentic story has grown into a far bigger mission. My dream for Alone Girl is for it to strike a chord in the zeitgeist and become a film where women of all ages—and anyone who has ever felt boxed in by the patriarchy—can come to feel seen and heard.

Because here’s the truth: everyone is worthy. Everyone deserves to feel like they belong. Whatever your beautiful weirdness is, you should feel like it’s okay to express it, and you shouldn’t be made to feel like there is something intrinsically wrong with you because there is nothing wrong with you. Our stories—no matter how quirky or unconventional—make up the beautiful patchwork of humankind.

For too long, we’ve heard the same voices shaping the narrative. I want Alone Girl and the Meowment to be part of the change that’s happening—albeit too slowly. When certain voices are valued more, the patchwork becomes less vibrant and colorful. And really, who wants a dull, monochromatic world?

So, I’ve built this community to manifest my dream and create a place where spinsters, rebels, and everyone in between can come together to shape the world we want to see.

Bringing Alone Girl to life has been the most exhilarating rollercoaster imaginable, with highs that lift my spirit and lows that test my resilience. But this journey has been invaluable, teaching me that as “Traditional Hollywood” crumbles, independent filmmakers like me have the power to innovate. We only need the creativity and imagination to claim it.

One example is Pawsman Prints, my line of whimsical cat-themed merchandise inspired by my feline companions—Jack, Bobby, and Chadwick Pawsman. These products celebrate the joy cats bring into our lives, but they also serve a greater purpose. They support the film’s production and will even become part of the film’s merchandise, appearing in the lead character’s wardrobe. It’s a blend of reality and creativity that’s uniquely Alone Girl.

I also document my journey as host of the Blissful Spinster podcast, where I explore the joy of singlehood and share my experiences making Alone Girl. Through candid conversations and personal stories, the podcast reclaims the term “spinster” and inspires others to embrace their own unique paths. It’s a unique blend of a filmmakers podcast meets women’s empowerment journey.

The Meowment is more than a project… it’s a mission; a movement that challenges outdated narratives and celebrates the diverse ways we find fulfillment. So whether you’re here for the sisterhood, the film, the podcast, or the cat-inspired creativity, I invite you to join the Meowment. Together, let’s spin a tapestry of joy, independence, and empowerment.
